Recent News. The first Cold War put the U.S. & other allies in Europe called NATO against Russia and The Soviet Union. Russia and the U.S. hold 90% of the worlds nuclear weapons. In recent events Russia has invaded east Ukraine in attempt to control Ukraine and make them a part of Russia. If this happens they will be closer to NATO increasing their threat. Barak Obama has already stated that any attack on NATO by Russia will not be tolerated. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin feels provoked by the U.S. because we have positioned our nuclear weapons closer to Russia. Russia has also positioned their nuclear weapons closer to NATO. The U.S. already has troops in Ukraine to help fight off Russia, but if this chess game continues is it possible we will see another Cold War?
