Sam Martin grew up as a female and transitioned herself to male. He says he felt all alone in how he felt as a youngster. Now at the age of 43 he is writing books for children and teenagers about lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgendered people. He is not the only author writing children's books centered on transgender characters. He says he is writing these books to help kids not feel all alone in their feelings.
